KFC, McDonalds, Grilld, Red Rooster, Hungry Jacks: Best chips revealed

A controversial survey has declared that KFC chips are the best in Australia.

Insights agency Nature has made the chip claim after conducting a rigorous survey and discovered that 76 per cent of Aussies have declared that KFC is the best, followed by Red Rooster at 67 per cent and Grill’d at 65 per cent.

Nature partner and managing director James Jayesuria said: “KFC was named as having the best hot chips in the country, with some clear, key themes giving it an advantage: thicker, chunkier cuts, crispy texture and being well-seasoned.”

News.com.au recently conducted a blind chip tasting to decide who made the best chips in Australia and KFC also came back as the winner.

So this research actually confirms the conclusion we came too previously. To say we are feeling smug is an understatement.

It is interesting that poor Mcdonald’s and Hungry Jack’s didn’t even get a look in. Well, in this case, a fry-in.

The hot chip debate is always tough because people have different preferences on what makes a great chip.

Some people like a skinny chip, others prefer a bulky one. Some like the chip to be glistening in salt, others prefer a lighter salt touch. Some people want the crunch, other people like the softness of a soggy chip.

Do you see what I mean?

Growing up, I was quickly exposed to how everyone has different chip tastes. I liked the small crunchy ones, and no one else in my family did.

They’d get shoved onto my plate, and everyone else would battle it out for the bigger, sturdier chips.

So, the fact that KFC chips have been declared a winner had the news.com.au office in an absolute tizzy.

If you want to get a Aussie riled up make a bold claim about hot chips.

KFC chips voted the best, here is news.com.au opinion

Reporter Brooke was quick to scream out that Soul Burger had the best chips in Australia. However, she got a little sidetracked and started talking about the burgers they make.

While the enthusiasm was appreciated I think we can all agree that burgers are a separate conversation, and I fear Australia isn’t ready to have it.

Reporter Bucky was shocked and called it a “slap in the face to Hungry Jack’s”. But he managed to come out of his spiral quickly and is now back to focusing on the good things in life.

Entertainment reporter Nick was on the KFC side.

“I agree with that! I think it is up there with Red Rooster. I actually can’t tell the difference,” he remarked.

Wow.

I don’t think Red Rooster or KFC will be happy to hear that.

Finanical reporter Alex went completely rogue and declared she’d only tried KFC chips ONCE before.

Clearly, she’s unaware that Zinger burgers are known to cure hangovers – please be aware there’s no science behind this claim.

Alex revealed she isn’t part of the majority at all and said she had “basic” tastes and her favourite chip was from McDonald’s.

See? No one can agree.

I think we have to ignore the squabbling reporters and deal with the cold hard facts.

KFC chips have won over the majority and Australia is a country that favours a chunky salty chip over a skinny less salty one.

What does that say about us?

Honestly, I don’t want to know.
